Cactus Gasteria Minor

Here’s Gasteria minor. It can also be identified as a bull’s tongue and is native to South Africa. They are a curious species because they can either grow so much as a spiral or grow to the right and left by leaning on each other. There is a fairly wide variety worldwide, but the vast majority are hybrids that have been created from two different species. Some may confuse gasterias with aloe vera, but note that they are two completely different species.

A very important aspect is that depending on the species it is, the leaves can become very colorful and look very different, thus affecting their flower production. These, coming from a branch or stem, are grouped at the end in the form of a grape. They are usually yellow or reddish in color. There are even some with the ability to flower in tubular or curved shape during the winter epoch.

Since it is a plant native to South Africa, it does not hold the direct and extreme summer sun well, so its thanks for a light shade to prevent the tips from burning. As for irrigation, like many other cacti and succulents, it does not need much water, so it is convenient to wait for the substrate to dry completely. If we waste too much, we will take the plant to stinking, and that is synonymous with death.
