The Matucana Ritteri is native to Peru and is known as Matucana. I’m not going to tell you many things about this specimen, because there’s not much information available, so I’m going to put what I found and what I know. It has a globular body with curved spines and a yellowish coloration. They do not grow much, at most reaching ten centimeters in height by fifteen in diameter.
It has very good heat tolerance, he may be in semi-shadow especially in the hottest hours of the day, but it will be better if he is in the direct sun. It’ll make you some pretty big flowers compared to the body, about five centimeters in diameter, orange pink in color that if all goes well can come out between March and October.
The irrigation must be moderated in the growing months, in spring we will irrigate every fortnight, in summer weekly and in autumn, the last month we will irrigate will be in October, and we will do so only once. When temperatures reach their bearable minimum, which is the two positive degrees, we will have to protect it in some way (by taking it into the interior of our house or into a greenhouse).
Finally, you have to be careful not to irrigate too much, so you will avoid possible rots and fungal diseases.
