For a while
now, I have been able to see, like all those who are reading this, that weather
is changing, there are increasingly hot summers and less cold winters. But for
whatever it is, a change of climate is approaching and a front comes with heavy
rains and winds practically uncontrollable, and this is causing some problems
for my small collection of cacti. Every time these strong winds, I end up with
broken pots, damaged cactus and especially a lot of specimens out of place, and
that means being the next two days fixing this disaster.
Due to all
these problems I am having, I have thought of making a greenhouse in my home,
something that is more decent and that can hold (or I hope) all this bad
weather that will, unfortunately, seem to go further. That’s why I want to call
it “a new project”.
This
greenhouse will consist of putting six stainless steel posts on the ground,
which will be to make the main structure. For the walls I will use perforated
resistant plastic sheets that will allow the entry and exit of air from the
inside. Since these plates are a little low, to cover the space that could
remain until the roof, I will reuse the black plastic that I currently have to
cover them, it will be an extra contribution of oxygen and so, in summer when
it is very hot both day and night, I could remove it and I would not have any
problem. Then, to make the roof there are some sheets of corrugated hard
plastic, simulating a tiled roof, then to work more comfortably I will put some
table, especially for when I have to transplant some cacti.
Now, this
project is only a thought, it could be that from now to what the final project
will be, something changes, who knows, but I sincerely hope to be able to carry
it out as soon as possible, when I have all the materials and have prepared the
ground to be able to start building.
