Cacti Aeonium castello-paivae

Like other species of the genus aeonium, it has curative properties.

Category:

The Aeonium castello-paivae, better known as “bejequillo gomero” is endemic to the island of La Gomera, in the Canary Islands. It is a specimen that can grow from fifty to seventy centimeters high, rounded and quite dense thanks to its fleshy and slightly pointed leaves.

It is one of the most branched plants that exist, and if we look at it from above, we will see that the layout of the leaves is in the form of a rosette. Normally, they have a whitish coloration or a mixture of green and yellow and often older leaves turn reddish with purple stripes.

As for the flowers, they come from a stem that rises in the center of the plant, growing up to 25 centimeters long. When it has reached its maximum height, seven to nine bell-shaped flowers come out, with varied colors such as pink white or whitish green. Flowering occurs between May and June.

It can hold practically any season of the year and be in the most extreme conditions, since its natural habitat lives in ravines and steep areas. We can find it from 100 to 1000 meters of altitude.
