Cacti Pachyphytum compactum Rose

It is known as a diamond plant for the shape of its leaves.

Today I present you one of the most beautiful and elegant succulents I have ever seen. It is the succulent Pachyphytum Compactum Rose. It is native to Mexico and we will recognize it by the following characteristics: practically all year round it is only green, but for winter, if we look in detail we can see that the leaves take red or purple colorations. Although it is quite strange because it is a variety that grows very slowly, adult specimens can reach 1.30 meters in height.

Its port is rather bushy because it grows both in height and width, developing a short and strong stem, which normally branches from the base with branches that can vary from light green to a mixture of gray and white.

As for flowering, it flowers between March and April. We can see that it removes a light red or pink stem from the center of the plant, which grows to between 10 and 15 centimeters while the plant is small. Then, at the end, small flared flowers with pale yellow colors will grow in the center and outside a mixture of orange with pink and greenish tips.

As for irrigation, it is recommended that it is indoors and so it can be watered all year round respecting the irrigation weeks (every two weeks in spring and summer and once a month in autumn and winter.) In this case, we can say that it prefers to go thirsty, than having too much water, since, unfortunately it happens in many varieties of cactus and succulents, too much humidity can kill the plant. Always, always, let me insist so much, we must make sure that the substrate is completely dry before re-introducing water.

It likes to be in the sun and cannot drop below 2 negative degrees. Keep in mind that during the hours of more sunshine we must protect it to avoid burns in the leaves.
