Cactus Kalanchoe Laxiflora

It usually takes aerial roots to try to have greater stability.

Category:

Kalanchoe Laxiflora is originally from Madagascar and is known as Kalanchoe aurora, later on you will know why. It is a fast-growing species with elongated, somewhat branched stems that can reach between thirty and fifty centimeters in height.

Its leaves are light green, grow opposite each other and have irregular, saw-shaped edges. The color of the leaf margins will vary depending on the light intensity it receives. It can go from pink to dark purple. There have even been cases where they can be yellow-green if they do not have enough light. It is for this reason that it is called vulgar, because they have the ability to change color only with the sun.

This Kalanchoe has a curious form of flowering, and we can see that flowering begins when the tips of the stems start pointing downwards, as do the leaves around them. Within a few days, cylindrical flowers, quite numerous, will begin to emerge in the form of funnels and the colors can vary between yellow and pink. We will see these small changes in the autumn.

Surviving well both in direct sun and in partial shade, we must make sure in the summer to protect it from midday sun. If you want to avoid possible burns on the leaves, you can put it in a very well-lit place without solar exposure. Surprisingly, it holds weak frost as long as it is not very closely followed.

The irrigation must be abundant, but little often, except in autumn and spring, which is when the plant has the most activity, in summer irrigation one head every fortnight, and in winter it ceases to irrigate completely. Before returning to water, the substrate must be completely dry. Finally, there are not many enemies, we just have to make sure that we do not get past water or humidity because it can be fatal to the plant.
