Cactus Mammillaria Hahnianna

It is a cactus that is very interesting for those who start a collection or also for those who want to expand it.

Category:

Mammillaria Hahnianna is endemic to Mexico, especially in the states of Guanajuato, Querétato and Tulipanes. Popularly for those lands it is known as the Old Bisnaga of the Jalpan Range. It does not grow too much; it can be about nine centimeters high and about ten in diameter. Although the areoles are conical, having these thin and thick spines, they are between twenty and thirty radials and between one and four central ones which are smaller and white than the radials.

Despite the size of the cactus, its flowers are very small: they are little flowers of two centimeters in diameter and pink in color that over time offer leaks of seven millimeters that are inside this one the brown seeds that are the gates to create new specimens of this magnificent Mammillaria.

The irrigation and the temperature that we must have exposed it, are: water it twice a week in summer and once every fortnight in spring. In the autumn, stop irrigating until the next season. And the accepted temperature is the two negative degrees as long as it’s not for a very long period of time. If this happens, it is better that we provide a little cover either with a cloth or plastic or put it in the interior of the house (next to a window where it has a greater amount of light and direct sun) or also on a porch, as long as it is caught in the cold.
