Here we have Mammillaria Compressa, we also find it with the scientific synonym Mammillaria Conopea or with the common name Bisnaga compressed. It is very attractive and curious for cacti lovers, as when is small it is solitary, but over time it transforms and clusters together forming a species of shrubby mountaineer growing at height without exceeding twenty centimeters.
If we have it planted in a generously broad test, this sling can reach one meter in diameter. It also has mostly white central spines that are quite long compared to the radials (from radials to six and the central spine can reach seven centimeters). Also, as they grow and form the mound, the white woolliness between the spike and the body of the cactus (called the “axilas” in Spanish or armpits in English) appears.
They are purple-rosed and the fruits they generate and where the seeds are drawn are red. It likes to be full sun as well as in semi-shadow, and the minimum temperature that should not be exceeded is the five positive degrees. And when irrigating, do it in moderation in spring and summer (once every fortnight), reduce the water supply in autumn (once a month) and stop giving water completely in winter. Before providing water, we must ensure that the substrate is completely dry, if we do not respect this, although it is a cactus that does not usually suffer from pest and disease attacks, it can rot due to excess water.
Finally, because it is very easy to grow and grow (it is fast growing) it will be enough to plant the baby from the parent plant or from the seeds we plant in the spring.
