Cactus Mammillaria Gracilis

Because of its small size, it makes it an excellent cactus for its gardening.

Category:

Mammilaria Gracilis is known by the common name cactus thimble or the scientific synonyms Mammillaria Vetula or Mammillaria Magneticola. It comes from Mexico, like almost all other varieties of Mammillaria. It is a cactus of a bony harbor (which grows from the ground as if it were turf) and does not usually exceed six centimeters in height with about fifty radial white spines and one to seven thicker and redder central spines.

It makes small flowers that sometimes have trouble opening because of the shape the spikes have and they are yellow or cream. This Mammillaria enjoys having a direct exposure to the sun and being at a place where summer temperatures are high. If something of these is not possible to give it, it is usually sunny hours, you can have it inside your house or on a balcony where it has at least three or four hours of direct sun and then powerful light.

It is not advisable to expose it to temperatures below three positive degrees. This species of cactus is one of the only ones that we can bring water every two or three days in summer, once a week in spring, once a month in autumn and remove the water completely in winter. We always have to check that the substrate is completely dry before irrigating again.

They have no great enemies, we just have to control excess humidity and watch that it does not attack the red spider, all of which will happen if we overstep the risk.
