Cacti Haworthiopsis Limifolia

The touch of the leaves reminds the skin of crocodiles.

Haworthiopsis Limifolia, formerly known as Haworthia Limifolia, is a succulent native to South Africa and we can also know it by the synonym of succulent crocodile skin, referring to the touch of its leaves.

They are quite small, have bright dark green leaves, conical in shape and with white roughness ranging from the base to the tip. They will grow more in diameter than in height, making at most between six and ten centimeters in height by between ten and twenty in width. That is why it is advisable when it is time to transplant, to put it in a pot that is larger than not high. If we look at it from a certain distance, we will see that it is rosette-shaped.

We will enjoy flowering from spring to summer. We will see that from the center of the succulent appears a long stem of up to thirty centimeters, which will be the one that will attract the most attention, because with regard to the flowers, a white bell with green stripes will emerge around.

It prefers a place with semi-shade or indirect light. It is very important that we respect this because direct sunlight could burn the leaves, especially if it is that hot sun on the hottest days of summer.

The irrigation, adapting it to its solar conditions, we will not water without first ensuring that the substrate is completely dry to the touch. We will water once every fortnight in spring and summer and, only once a month in autumn. We will leave the winter season without irrigation to avoid possible frost.

And finally, the minimum temperature considered for safety is four degrees positive, although if you are in a place where it freezes very punctually and is a weak cold, it could withstand temperatures lower than the four degrees I mentioned before. And the higher temperatures, as long as we have it protected, there must be no problem with the maximum temperature and solar radiation.
