Cactus Crassula Arborescens spp. Undulatifolia

Its closest and best-known relative is the Jade tree.

I’m talking to you today about a rather curious Crass plant. It is Crassula Arborescens spp. Undulatifolia comes from South Africa and is known by the common name wavy jade, since practically only the shape of the leaves is what differentiates them. It has large, wavy leaves (as you can imagine by the Latin name “Undulatifolia”), with a rounded tip and a greenish blue with red margins.

It has a tree port, with branches branching almost from the base of the stem, which over time can become a rounded tree and can surprisingly reach between ninety centimeters to one meter high.

If you want it to blossom and grow strong, try to give it many hours of sunshine, especially in the morning, which are the most important, and in the central hours, which the sun is stronger, better have shade. It’s crucial that you respect sunshine, otherwise you get the leaves stretching too far and end up deforming the natural shape of the blade because it’s looking for the sun. If you have it in a place where it is in good condition, it will produce white flowers, from spring to late summer.

Like all succulent, irrigation must be minimal, as leaves and all tissues have the necessary supply to make the plant live. Put only when the substrate is dry or if you see the leaves crinkling a little. This will be a sign that it needs water. In winter, you better not water and so give it the winter rest he also needs.

Finally, it’s resistant to disease and plague, you have to watch that if a leaf turns yellow it can be a sign that it’s being attacked by some fungus. Also watch out for excess moisture, as it can rot the roots and whole plant.
