Haworthia Fasciata

At maturity, numerous rosettes are created, grouped very closely together, small and all of them with many narrow leaves.

I’m going to tell you about a cactus that is known all over the world. Well, it’s not a cactus, but rather a succulent. His scientific name is Haworthia fasciata, and his common name or what everyone knows him is cactus zebra. It is native to southern Africa. It is well known because it is widely used and very characteristic. Now you know why it’s called the zebra cactus. It has horizontal stripes or dots very close together that remind the stripes that zebras also have, hence their name, although I personally think it is not very good, as I said before, it is not a cactus, it is a succulent one.

By the shape of the blade and some properties that they have, it can remind its close relative of aloe vera. Unlike this, the haworthia will hardly grow, if it is located in a place where it likes it, I don’t think it exceeds ten centimeters in height, the leaves if they don’t and the direct sun is light green and if the direct sun touches the red-brown.

Like all succulents, whatever species it is, it is very easy to retain high water capacity and to withstand a fairly long season without receiving any drops of water. They need direct sunshine, always guarding that in the hours where the sun is strongest, to cover it to prevent the leaves from burning. Also, it is widely used for cultivation in gardens.

However, it also has a high demand in greenhouses because it is used as a window decoration planted in pots although what it most likes for its characteristics is to grow it in gardens where there are rocks.
