Cactus Cereus Repandus var. Monstrosus

When is small, it can be confused with Cereus Peruvianus var. Monstruosus.

The Cereus Repandus var. Monstrosus, also known as Candlestick cactus, is a rare and extremely valued variety of the cactus Cereus Repandus. It comes from South America. Its curious shape, which if you look at it in detail resembles a candlestick, gives it a unique and fascinating touch, makes it a plant that is highly interesting to those people who let themselves be dazzled by the beauty of cacti.

The normal variety, the non-monstrous one, is a long cylindrical trunk with numerous ribs and spines; instead, the candle-shaped cactus has a strange shape, with a series of protuberances and irregular crests throughout the surface. It is very resistant and tolerant to extreme conditions, such as drought and direct exposure to the sun, although it is best not exposed to very strong exposure to the sun, as this may cause it to dry. You better put it in a place where it has bright but indirect light, either under a window or where it receives filtered light.

Another thing that can harm it is the low temperatures. Because it prefers and grows better in a warm climate, temperatures must be above fifteen degrees. But since this is not always possible, we will have to give you the best possible conditions within the possible. You must also avoid exposing it to very low temperatures, below five positive degrees is already considered dangerous.

As far as irrigation is concerned, it must be moderated especially when it is hot, so we will irrigate every fortnight in the spring, once a week in the summer and autumn only once a month, and above all stop irrigating when the minimum temperature drops by six positive degrees. It’s also important that you wait for the substrate to be fully in place before you return to water.
