Cactus Kalanchoe Rhombopilosa

It is ideal for having it in a test both inside and outside.

Kalanchoe Rhombopilosa is a species of Crassula that is quite rare. Because of the color of the leaves and the ease of camouflage it has, it is commonly called Kalanchoe stone. It comes from southern Madagascar. The name “rhombopilosa” comes from the union of the Latin words “rhombo” referring to the limestone geometric shape and “pilosa” to the silky texture of the leaves.

One of the other possible options called rhombopilosa is because the leaves are rhombopyliate. They have a greyish green color with brown spots and for a large part we can also see that they have white crusts, which are merely decorative. The margins are beige.

If we look at it in more detail, and especially in the course of time, we can see that it is a plant that will be very difficult to reach thirty centimeters in height, it will always remain between ten and twenty as long as it is in the best possible conditions. The flowers are very little (I personally have never seen any of them yet), but those who have seen them say they are yellow-green with red lines. They bloom throughout the spring.

With regard to temperature and lighting, as I said before southern Madagascar, the climate is arid and therefore it is warm and there is a lot of light, because its optimum temperature is between twenty and thirty degrees maximum and exposing it to a maximum of five degrees minimum. If it is less than five degrees, it is appropriate to protect it in some way (if you have it on the outside, you can put it under an awning or move it under a porch where it is as sheltered as possible). And the lighting must be direct to the strongest hours and then try to shade it. Or you can put it in a place where by midday it no longer touches the sun directly and so you don’t have to keep an eye on it.

Finally, irrigation should not be very abundant, it should be spaced and always ensure that the substrate is completely dry. The drought persists to a certain extent, but it should not be exposed too much, as it could easily die.
