Cactus Fenestraria Rhopalophylla

It is the only recorded plant of the genus Fenestraria.

I present you with a succulent that is literally unique. It is the Fenestraria Rhopalophylla and is known by the common name window plant (this name comes from the Latin Fenestra) or by the scientific synonym Fenestraria Aurantica. It comes from southern Africa. It is a strange and curious plant at the same time that it does not exceed five centimeters in height. It consists of small leaves with a light green tip (this is due to the lack of chlorophyll).

It requires direct sunlight to survive; on the contrary, if it does not have enough lighting, it dies. If it is illuminated correctly, it will produce white flowers about three centimeters in diameter, and flowering occurs between summer and part of autumn.

The irrigation must be very moderate in summer and fairly light in spring. So, I recommend to you to water it like: once every fortnight in the spring and once a week in the summer. As the end of the summer approaches and autumn begins, when minimum temperatures begin to fall from fifteen degrees, it ceases to provide water immediately, as this species requires a winter rest of between eight and fourteen positive degrees.

Finally, its greatest enemy is the excess moisture that will cause very rapid stinking of the plant.
