Cactus Mammillaria Rhodantha

In winter-free regions, it can be used in rocks and gardens.

Category:

The Mammillaria Rhodantha or Bisnaga of pink flowers which is its common name, is usually confused with the Mammillaria Rhodantha subsp. fera-rubra because of its similarity to the spikes. It comes from the states of Guanajuato and Querétaro, located in central Mexico. It is a dark green and normal-colored cactus that is usually solitary although it may occasionally produce little plants.

In general, they do not exceed fifteen centimeters in height. It has about thirty radial spines that can be yellow or red of an approximate centimeter in length and about six central spines slightly longer than if we look at them, we can see just at the tip they curve.

In between the spines, on the armpits only on the top of the plant is a white wooliness that the flowers come from here, which is a color between pink and fuchsia about two centimeters. The fruits have a white coloration.

Like many others, they prefer a direct exposure of the sun, and can also be placed indoors, but it is important to place it next to a window where it steals the largest amount of sunshine per day. In winter, if we have it outside, it should not exceed the temperature below two positive degrees, if we have it inside, we must take care not to have it close to radiators.

Finally, the irrigation must be moderate: in spring once a week, in spring once every fortnight and in autumn once a month. In winter, stop providing water completely until the next season, so, when the minimum temperature is above seven positive degrees.
